Sumter County Emergency Management

This has been a long time coming. The Sumter County Board of Commissioners have approved the purchase of a Mass Notification System for Sumter County. This is an automated system that will send notifications to you automatically. Not only will it send weather alerts, but also any pertinent information in your area. For example if there is a boil water notice in your area we can send messages to only those affected. I need your help to spread this information and help your friends sign up. This is a fantastic tool for us to utilize and help our county to be safer!

Severe Weather Warning System for Sumter County

 

Many of you know that our outdoor weather alert siren is soon to be fully operational. What you may not know is that this siren system has the capability to notify you either via text message or email (or both) when the siren is activated. This is similar to a Reverse 9-1-1 or a Code Red system with two exceptions. It does not allow notification to a land line (house phone) only to mobile devices. Secondly this system, unlike the previously mentioned systems, does not have a data base to draw from. This means that we need information from you in a form the system can use. I have created an easy to fill out form that will populate the data. If you want to be notified when a siren in your area activates please fill out the form. This form is good for only one cell phone number or email address. If you want to add multiple ones you have to fill it out multiple times. Please fill this form out and feel free to forward this email to anyone you feel may benefit from the alert system.
