His parents were Lilyann Parsons Peterman, Tallahassee, FL and the late Thoms Leonard Peterman of Americus, GA. At the time of his passing, he was a devoted caregiver and sole provider to his wife who is fighting cancer.

He grew up in Americus, GA where he was an Eagle Scout, a member of First Baptist Church, played trumpet and french horn. He was a graduate of AHS and South GA Technical College and then became a US Marine. He worked for Delta Airlines (avionics) after the Marine Corps. He guarded Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf aka “Baghdad Bob”, Saddam Hussein's spokesman with whom he had amusing interactions, and he was a convoy scout.

Mark became a skilled entrepreneur and expert in aircraft valuations. He formed Collateral Verifications, Inc. in 2004 after Iraq. Eventually he joined up a partnership, Collateral Valuations LLC where he won global clients with his knowledge and fairness. He enjoyed his work.
