His parents were Lilyann Parsons Peterman, Tallahassee, FL and the late Thoms Leonard Peterman of Americus, GA. At the time of his passing, he was a devoted caregiver and sole provider to his wife who is fighting cancer.

He grew up in Americus, GA where he was an Eagle Scout, a member of First Baptist Church, played trumpet and french horn. He was a graduate of AHS and South GA Technical College and then became a US Marine. He worked for Delta Airlines (avionics) after the Marine Corps. Later, he served in Iraq as a Combat MP in the US Army Reserves and later as a US Air Force contractor in the Predator/Reaper UAV program. During the Iraq war, his unit was engaged in numerous heroic actions; among which was locating and securing mass grave sites and securing the compound that held Jessica Lynch. He guarded Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf aka “Baghdad Bob”, Saddam Hussein's spokesman with whom he had amusing interactions, and he was a convoy scout.

Mark became a skilled entrepreneur and expert in aircraft valuations. He formed Collateral Verifications, Inc. in 2004 after Iraq. Eventually he joined up a partnership, Collateral Valuations LLC where he won global clients with his knowledge and fairness. He enjoyed his work. Among other services, he was an expert witness in numerous aviation court cases. He was proud that he knew so much he couldn’t be stumped. He was a world traveler, a master of kidney stones and renowned for his dry, humorous wit. He was generous, caring and intelligent.

Most of all, he was the loving and devoted Husband of 26 years to Janet Lynn Savoy Peterman, Dad to Kiersten Schulze (Josh), Clermont, FL, Adam Dewey (Muriel), Tarpon Springs, FL, Poppa to Isabella and Levi Schulze, Seth and Adele Dewey.  Brother to twins, Greg Peterman, Tallahassee, FL, Jeff Peterman (Trudy Morita), Griffin, GA and his twin Mary Ann Peterman, Tallahassee, FL.
